Baby quilts... the silk road

What I’m showing you today are some small baby quilts I’ve done recently, as in the last months I had several friends enetering the fab “Parents club”. 

The first two bright colored quilts are from the panel “Woodland critters” by Spectrix and its coordinates fabrics. Actually it included also an adorable fox, that I decided to keep for myself… pretty little hoarder!

The good thing with quilts made from panels is that they’re veeeeery quick to do and appreciated by normal people. I mean, people not involved into this “quilty thing” and so not aware of how much time and money consuming piecing and quilting can be.
I put a double layer of silk batting, as the quilts were delivered in april and I thought they needed to be warm, but not too much. I have to say I adored working with silk batting and I’m planning to use it more and more in the future.

This little quilt was done with an old bumper panel together with a machine embroidered insert where I wrote the name of this adorable little boy and a small rocking horse. The border was cut from an adorable replica fabric that added that cozy vintage touch to the quilt: that's right the style my friend Caterina, who received it, loves. In this case the silk batting was in a single layer.

I've done another one couple of days ago for Tommaso, another baby boy with a vintage-lover mom, but it was delivered just yesterday and I don't want to bother them for a pic! Yes... I have this problem with gifts I make: I always forget to take picture. :(

Well, that's all for now: happy quilting weekend to everyone!
